Solution of Counter current imbibition phenomenon in homogeneous porous media by Homotopy perturbation transform method (HPTM)

Counter current imbibition is an important recovery mechanism during water flooding in reservoirs. It occurs when a porous medium filled with some fluid is brought into contact with another fluid which preferentially wet the medium then there is a spontaneous flow of the wetting fluid into the medium and a counter flow of resident fluid from the medium. The present paper discusses the approximate analytical solution of counter current imbibition phenomenon in homogeneous porous media by Homotopy perturbation transform method under the specific assumptions. The results are obtained for various values of the parameter considered in the problem. The sensitivity analysis has been performed on various parameters to understand their effects on the saturation of injected fluid.
